Glenn Garrels

I am a retired Lieutenant with the New Jersey State Police and served 22 years with the agency.  I was a Road Duty Trooper at several different Road Stations in southern New Jersey.  I made detective and was assigned tro the Digital Technology Investigation Unit where I investigated the possession and distribution of child pornography and crimes against children.  I was then assigned to the Major Crime South Unit where I investigated homicides, suspicious deaths, and officer involved shootings.  I was then finished my career at the Casino Gaming Bureau where I investigated prostitution, narcotics, and human trafficking within the Casino Gaming District.

I excel at conducting death and violent crime investigations as that is what my assignment was for the majority of my career.  I was involved with hundreds of death cases, and conducted countless interviews of witnesses, suspects , and victims involved in violent crimes.  I developed an expertise of analyzing cell phone data and case management of large scale investigations involving a large number of detectives from different agencies.  I can interpret crime scene photographs and scene re-construction.  I have prepared extensive and detailed investigation reports that documents my investigative ability.

I received several awards throughout my career State Police career including 2015 Trooper of the Year for my investigative ability and case management expertise.  I have attended dozens of training classes in death and homicide cases as well as investigative techniques.

I am also a police force encounter / general practises consultant that reviews cases upon request.  My extensive experience in police force training and investigations affords me the ability to analyze force in an objective and impartial manner while understanding the totality of the circumstances.
